Jeanmar Gomez was traded by the Cleveland Indians to the Pittsburgh Pirates on January 9, 2013. In exchange the Pirates received Quincy Latimore.
RHP Gomez has three seasons MLB experience all with the Indians. He split 2012 between Triple A Columbus and Cleveland and was 6-5 with a 4.41 ERA, 54 K, 1.33 WHIP in 69.1 IP over 11 games in Columbus and was 5-8 with a 5.96 ERA, 47 K, 1.42 WHIP in 90.2 IP over 20 games with Cleveland. For his MLB career he is 14-16 with a 5.18 ERA, 112 K, 1.51 WHIP in 206.2 IP over 42 games. He originally signed with the Indians as an amateur free agent in 2005 out of Venezuela. Gomez will be 25 on February 10.
Latimore is an outfielder who played 2012 with the Pirates Double A team Altoona. He hit .252/.321/.433 with 15 HR, 71 RBI, 52 R, 10 SB in 126 games. He was originally drafted by the Pirates in the fourth round in 2007. Latimore will be 24 on February 3rd.
