Jesse Biddle traded to Pirates

Jesse Biddle was traded by the Philadelphia Phillies to the Pittsburgh Pirates on February 3, 2016. The Phillies in exchange received Yoervis Medina.

LHP Biddle split 2015 between Double A Reading and Triple A Lehigh Valley. He was 7-2, 4.24 ERA, 57 K, 1.54 WHIP, .288 BAA in 80.2 IP over 15 games at Reading and 2-4, 6.25 ERA, 32 K, 1.88 WHIP, .305 BAA in 44.2 IP over 9 games at Lehigh Valley. He was originally drafted by the Phillies with the 27th pick of the first round in 2010. Biddle will be 25 on October 22.

RHP Medina split 2015 between Triple A Tacoma, the Mariners, Triple A Iowa and the Cubs. He was 1-0, 1.59 ERA, 4 K, 0.35 WHIP, .059 BAA, 1 SV in 5.2 IP over 4 games at Tacoma, 1-0, 3.00 ERA, 9 K, 1.50 WHIP, .234 BAA, 1 SV in 12.0 IP over 12 games with the Mariners, 0-2, 6.29 ERA, 35 K, 1.78 WHIP, .299 BAA, 1 SV in 34.1 IP over 28 games at Iowa and 0-0, 7.00 ERA, 7 K, 1.78 WHIP, .308 BAA in 9.0 IP over 5 games with the Cubs. Over three MLB seasons with the Cubs and Mariners he was 10-9, 3.08 ERA, 147 K, 1.36 WHIP, .222 BAA, 2 SV in 146.0 IP over 146 games. He originally signed with the Mariners in 2005 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Medina will be 28 on July 27.
