Jhoulys Chacin traded to Angels

Jhoulys Chacin was traded by the Atlanta Braves to the Los Angeles Angels on May 11, 2016. The Braves in exchange received Adam McCreery.

RHP Chacin had split 2016 between Triple A Gwinnett and the Braves. He was 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 7 K, 0.91 WHIP, .192 BAA in 7.2 IP in 1 game at Gwinnett and 1-2, 5.40 ERA, 27 K, 1.39 WHIP, .274 BAA in 26.2 IP over 5 games with the Braves. Over eight MLB seasons with the Angels, Braves and Rockies he is 42-53, 3.85 ERA, 586 K, 1.33 WHIP, .246 BAA in 762.0 IP over 140 games with 124 GS. He originally signed with the Rockies in 2004 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Chacin turned 28 on January 7th.

LHP McCreery had not yet pitched in 2016 but was 0-0, 2.41 ERA, 28 K, 1.29 WHIP, .159 BAA in 18.2 IP over 16 games at Rookie Arizona in 2015. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the 22nd round in 2014. McCreery turned 23 on December 31.
