Jimmy Paredes traded to Phillies
Jimmy Paredes was traded by the Toronto Blue Jays to the Philadelphia Phillies on June 1, 2016 for cash. The third baseman hit 4 for 15, .267/.353/.533 with 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 7 games with the Blue Jays who claimed him off waivers from the Orioles on May 16. He had split the start of 2016 between Class A Advanced Frederick, Double A Bowie and Triple A Norfolk. He hit 3 for 4, .750/.800/1.000 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 1 game at Frederick, 9 for 37, .243/.317/.378 with 1 HR, 5 RBI, 4 R, 1 SB in 10 games at Bowie and 9 for 27, .333/.387/.519 with 1 HR, 3 RBI, 5 R, 2 SB in 8 games at Norfolk. Over six MLB seasons with the Phillies, Blue Jays, Orioles, Royals and Astros he has hit .256/.292/.374 with 17 HR, 87 RBI, 92 R, 19 SB in 264 games. He originally signed with the Yankees in 2006 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Paredes turned 27 on November 25.
