Brian Matusz traded to Braves

Brian Matusz was traded by the Baltimore Orioles to the Atlanta Braves on May 23, 2016. The Orioles in exchange received Brandon Barker and Trevor Belicek. 

LHP Matusz had split 2016 between Class A Advanced Frederick, Double A Bowie and the Orioles, He was 0-0, 1.29 ERA, 12 K, 0.43 WHIP, .120 BAA in 7.0 IP over 2 games at Frederick, 0-0, 21.00 ERA, 4 K, 3.00 WHIP, .471 BAA in 3.0 IP over 3 games at Bowie and 0-0, 12.00 ERA, 1 K, 3.00 WHIP, .407 BAA in 6.0 IP over 7 games with the Orioles. Over eight MLB seasons with the Orioles he was 27-41, 4.85 ERA, 460 K, 1.45 WHIP, .271 BAA in 525.2 IP over 279 games with 68 GS. He was originally drafted by the Orioles with the fourth pick of the first round in 2008. Matusz turned 29 on February 11.

RHP Barker was 3-2, 2.00 ERA, 40 K, 1.04 WHIP, .217 BAA in 45.0 IP over 9 games at Double A Mississippi to start 2016. He was originally drafted by the Braves in the 16th round in 2014. Barker will be 24 on August 20.

LHP Belicek had split 2016 between Class A Rome and Mississippi. He was 3-0, 2.49 ERA, 29 K, 0.79 WHIP, .209 BAA in 25.1 IP over 11 games at Rome and 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 3 K, 1.00 WHIP, .231 BAA in 3.0 IP in 1 game at Mississippi. He was originally drafted by the Braves in the 16th round in 2015. Belicek turned 23 on December 10.
