Omar Poveda traded to Nationals

Omar Poveda was traded by the Chicago White Sox to the Washington Nationals on March 30, 2014 in exchange for cash. The RHP pitched in 2013 at Triple A Gwinnett of the Braves and was 6-7, 3.62 ERA, 133 K, 1.30 WHIP in 164.0 IP over 27 games. He signed a minor league contract with the White Sox in December 2013. He originally signed with the Rangers in 2004 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Poveda will be 27 on September 28.
