Here is my week nine installment of College Spotlight for 2014. This week I am looking at Charlie Warren of Rice and Josh Prevost of Seton Hall.
Warren is a freshman outfielder out of The Woodlands High School in The Woodlands, TX. On Sunday he had a perfect 5 for 5 game in an 11-7 victory on the road at Tulane. He did it out of the ninth spot in the order as he had 1 RBI and 1 run while playing center field. The game helped lift him up on the season as he is now hitting .276/.354/.276 with 0 HR, 9 RBI, 10 R, 4 SB in 32 games. The previous year he helped lead his high school team to a 38-4 record and the Texas state championship as he hit .323/.381/.479 with 2 HR, 13 RBI, 35 R, 0 SB in 31 games.
RHP Prevost is a senior out of Montgomery High School in Belle Mead, NJ. On Friday he had more than enough run support as he dominated NYIT for eight inning in a 21-0 romp. His line for the game was 8.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 12 K as he went 6.1 inning before allowing the hit. This season he is 8-1, 1.67 ERA, 69 K, 0.73 WHIP in 70.0 IP over 9 games. Last year as a junior he was 5-2, 3.24 ERA, 31 K, 1.35 WHIP in 58.1 IP over 15 games with 9 starts.
