Chris Archer Contract Extension with Rays

Chris Archer and the Tampa Bay Rays agreed to terms on a six year extension for $25.5 million. The RHP has two seasons MLB experience pitching with the Rays. He split 2013 between Triple A Durham and the Rays. He was 5-3, 3.96 ERA, 52 K, 1.46 WHIP in 50.0 IP over 10 games at Durham and was 9-7, 3.22 ERA, 101 K, 1.13 WHIP in 128.2 IP over 23 games with the Rays. For his MLB career he is 10-10, 3.47 ERA, 137 K, 1.15 WHIP in 158.0 IP over 29 games. This year during spring training he was 1-0, 0.90 ERA, 9 K, 0.80 WHIP in 10.0 IP over 3 games. He was originally drafted by the Indians in the fifth round in 2006. Archer will be 26 on September 26.
