Henry Blanco retires
Henry Blanco announced his retirement from playing baseball in March 2014. The catcher had 16 seasons MLB experience playing with the Dodgers (1997), Rockies (1999), Brewers (2000-2001), Braves (2002-2003), Twins (2004), Cubs (2005-2008), Padres (2009), Mets (2010), Diamondbacks (2011-2012), Blue Jays (2013) and Mariners (2013). He split 2013 between the Blue Jays and Mariners hitting .184/.262/.263 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 3 R, 0 SB in 15 games with the Blue Jays and hit .125/.215/.240 with 3 HR, 14 RBI, 8 R, 0 SB in 35 games with the Mariners. For his MLB career he hit .223/.288/.361 with 72 HR, 298 RBI, 274 R, 6 SB in 971 games. He originally signed with the Dodgers in 1989 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Blanco was 42 at the time of his retirement.
