Ike Davis traded to Pirates

Ike Davis was traded by the New York Mets to the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 18, 2014. In exchange the Mets received Zack Thornton and a player to be named later.

Davis is a first baseman with four seasons MLB experience playing with the Mets. He split 2013 between Triple A Las Vegas and the Mets as he hit .293/.424/.667 with 7 HR, 13 RBI, 21 R, 0 SB in 21 games at Las Vegas and hit .205/.326/.334 with 9 HR, 33 RBI, 37 R, 4 SB in 103 games with the Mets. Prior to the trade he was hitting .208/.367/.375 with 1 HR, 5 RBI, 4 R, 0 SB in 12 games with the Mets. For his MLB career he has hit .242/.335/.434 with 68 HR, 224 RBI, 202 R, 7 SB in 455 games. He was originally drafted by the Mets with the 18th pick of the first round in 2008. Davis turned 27 on March 22.

RHP Thornton split 2013 between Class A Advanced Bradenton, Double A Altoona and Triple A Indianapolis as he was 2-1, 1.93 ERA, 14 K, 0.93 WHIP, 3 SV in 14.0 IP over 10 games at Bradenton, was 2-1, 2.00 ERA. 45 K. 0.86 WHIP, 2 SV in 36.0 IP over 19 games at Altoona and was 3-1, 3.91 ERA, 31 K, 1.03 WHIP in 25.1 IP over 13 games at Indianapolis. Prior to the trade he was 2-0, 1.23 ERA, 8 K, 1.09 WHIP in 7.1 IP over 4 games at Indianapolis. Thornton was originally drafted by the Athletics in the 23rd round in 2010. He was traded to the Pirates in 2012. Thornton will be 26 on May 19.
