Tony Campana traded to Diamondbacks

Tony Campana was traded by the Chicago Cubs to the Arizona Diamondbacks on February 18, 2013. In exchange the Cubs received Erick Leal and Jesus Castillo.

Campana is an outfielder with two seasons MLB experience both with the Cubs. He split 2012 between Triple A Iowa and the Cubs hitting .280/.338/.329 with 1 HR, 4 RBI, 24 R, 18 SB in 37 games at Iowa and hit .264/.308/.299 with 0 HR, 5 RBI, 26 R, 30 SB in 89 games with the Cubs. For his MLB career he has hit .262/.306/.300 with 1 HR, 11 RBI, 50 R, 54 SB in 184 games. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the 13th round in 2008. Campana will be 27 on May 30.

RHP Leal pitched 2012 with the Diamondbacks Rookie team in the Dominican Summer League. He was 6-2 with a 2.44 ERA, 70 K, 0.99 WHIP in 70.0 IP over 14 games. He signed with the Diamondbacks in 2011 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Leal will be 18 on March 17. 

RHP Castillo also pitched in 2012 with the Diamondbacks Rookie team in the Dominican Summer League. He was 2-4 with a 5.40 ERA, 41 K, 1.59 WHIP in 46.2 IP over 14 games. He signed with the Diamondbacks in 2011 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Castillo will be 18 on August 27.
