Thomas F McCarthy was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1946 along with Jesse Burkett, Frank Chance, Jack Chesbro, John Evers, Clark Griffith, Joseph McGinnity, Edward Plank, Joseph Tinker, Rube Waddell, and Edward Walsh. McCarthy was an outfielder with 13 seasons MLB experience playing with the Boston Reds (1884), Boston Beaneaters (1885, 1892-1895), Philadelphia Quakers (1886-1887), St Louis Browns (1888-1891) and Brooklyn Bridegrooms (1896). For his MLB career he hit .292/.364/.375 with 44 HR, 732 RBI, 1066 R, 468 SB in 1273 games.
I believe his best three seasons were 1894 when he hit .349/.419/.490 with 13 HR, 126 RBI, 118 R, 43 SB in 127 games, 1893 when he hit .346/.429/.465 with 5 HR, 111 RBI, 107 R, 46 SB in 116 games and 1890 when he hit .350/.430/.467 with 6 HR, 69 RBI, 137 R, 83 SB in 133 games.
McCarthy led the American Association in steals in 1890.
He served as manager of the Browns in 1890 with an 11-11 record.
