Tim Keefe MLB Hall of Fame 1964

Timothy J Keefe was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1964 along with Luke Appling, Red Faber, Burleigh Grimes, Miller Huggins, Henry Manush and Monte Ward. Keefe was a RHP with 14 seasons pitching with the Troy Trojans (1880-1882), New York Metropolitans (1883-1884), New York Giants (1885-1891) and Philadelphia Phillies (1891-1893). For his MLB career he was 342-225 with a 2.63 ERA, 2564 K, 1.12 WHIP, 2 SV, 554 complete games, 39 shut outs in 5049.2 IP over 600 games. 

I believe his three best seasons were 1888 when he was 35-12 with a 1.74 ERA, 335 K, 0.94 WHIP, 48 complete games, 8 shut outs in 434.1 IP over 51 games, 1885 when he was 32.13 with a 1.58 ERA, 227 K, 1.00 WHIP, 45 complete games, 7 shut outs in 400.0 IP over 46 games and 1886 when he was 42-20 with a 2.56 ERA, 297 K, 1.09 WHIP, 62 complete games, 2 shut outs in 535.0 IP over 64 games. 

Keefe led the National League in wins in 1886 and 1888. He led the NL in ERA in 1880 (0.86), 1885 and 1888. He led the American Association in strikeouts in 1883 (359). He led the NL in strikeouts in 1888. He led the NL in shut outs in 1888.

He claimed the Pitching Triple Crown in 1888.  The 0.86 ERA in 1880 was the lowest in MLB history.
