Theodore A Lyons was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1955 along with Home Run Baker, Joe DiMaggio, Gabby Harnett, Raymond Schalk and Dazzy Vance. Lyons was a RHP with 21 seasons MLB experience playing all with the Chicago White Sox (1923-1942, 1946). For his MLB career he was 260-230 with a 3.67 ERA, 1073 K, 1.35 WHIP, 23 SV, 356 complete games, 27 shut outs in 4161.0 IP over 594 games.
I believe his best three seasons were 1927 when he was 22-14 with a 2.84 ERA, 71 K, 1.16 WHIP, 2 SV, 30 complete games, 2 shut outs in 307.2 IP over 39 games, 1925 when he was 21-11 with a 3.26 ERA, 45 K, 1.36 WHIP, 3 SV, 19 complete games, 5 shut outs in 262.2 IP over 43 games and 1930 when he was 22-15 with a 3.78 ERA, 69 K, 1.30 WHIP, 1 SV, 29 complete games, 1 shut out in 297.2 IP over 42 games.
Lyons led the American League in wins in 1925 and 1927. He led the AL in ERA in 1942 (2.10). He led the AL in shut outs in 1925 and 1940 (4).
He was selected to one All Star team in 1939.
He managed the White Sox (1946-1948) with a 185-245 record.
