Pete Alexander MLB Hall of Fame 1938

Grover C (Pete) Alexander was inducted into the third MLB Hall of Fame class of 1938 along with Alexander Cartwright and Henry Chadwick. Alexander was a RHP with 20 seasons MLB experience pitching with the Philadelphia Phillies (1911-1917, 1930), Chicago Cubs (1918-1926) and St Louis Cardinals (1926-1929). For his MLB career he was 373-208 with a 2.56 ERA, 2198 K, 1.12 WHIP, 32 SV, 437 complete games, 90 shut outs in 5190.0 IP over 696 games. 

I believe his best three seasons were 1915 when he was 31-10 with a 1.22 ERA, 241 K, 0.84 WHIP, 3 SV, 36 complete games, 12 shut outs in 376.1 IP over 49 games, 1916 when he was 33-12 with a 1.55 ERA, 167 K, 0.96 WHIP, 3 SV , 38 complete games, 16 shut outs in 389.0 IP over 48 games and 1917 when he was 30-13 with a 1.83 ERA, 200 K, 1.01 WHIP, 34 complete games, 8 shut outs in 388.0 IP over 45 games. 

Alexander led the National League in wins in 1911 (28), 1914 (27), 1915, 1916, 1917 and 1920 (27). He led the NL in ERA in 1915, 1916, 1917, 1919 (1.72) and 1920 (1.91). He led the NL in strikeouts in 1912 (195), 1914 (214), 1915, 1916, 1917 and 1920 (173). He led the NL in shut outs in 1911 (7), 1913 (9), 1915m 1916, 1917, 1919 (9) and 1921 (3).

Alexander won the World Series Championship with the Cardinals in 1926. His career wins are third all-time and hit shut outs total is second all-time.
