Melvin T (Mel) Ott was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1951 along with Jimmie Foxx. Ott was an OF\3B with 22 seasons MLB experience all with the New York Giants (1926-1947). For his MLB career he hit .304/.414/.533 with 511 HR, 1860 RBI, 1859 R, 89 SB in 2730 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1929 when he hit .328/.449/.635 with 42 HR, 151 RBI, 138 R, 6 SB in 150 games, 1936 when he hit .328/.448/.588 with 33 HR, 135 RBI, 120 R, 6 SB in 150 games and 1934 when he hit .326/.415/.591 with 35 HR, 135 RBI, 119 R, 0 SB in 153 games.
Ott led the National League in home runs 6 times: 1932 (38), 1934, 1936, 1937 (31), 1938 (36) and 1942 (30). He led the NL in RBI in 1934. He led the NL in runs in 1938 (116) and 1942 (118).
He was an All Star 12 times (1934-1945). Ott won the World Series Championship with the Giants in 1933.
He also served as the Giants manager (1942-1948) with a 464-530 record.
