Joseph E Cronin was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1956 along with Hank Greenberg. Cronin was shortstop with 20 seasons MLB experience playing with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1926-1927), Washington Senators (1928-1934) and Boston Red Sox (1935-1945). For his MLB career he hit .301/.390/.468 with 170 HR, 1424 RBI, 1233 R, 87 SB in 2124 games.
I believe his best three seasons were 1930 when he hit .346/.422/.513 with 13 HR, 126 RBI, 127 R, 17 SB in 154 games, 1931 when he hit .306/.391/.480 with 12 HR, 126 RBI, 103 R, 10 SB in 156 games and 1940 when he hit .285/.380/.502 with 24 HR, 111 RBI, 104 R, 7 SB in 149 games.
Cronin led the American League in doubles in 1933 (45) and 1938 (51). He led the AL in triples in 1932 (18).
He was an All Star game seven times (1933-1935, 1937-1939, 1941). He finished second in AL MVP voting in 1933.
He also served as manager for the Senators (1933-1934) with a 165-139 record and the Red Sox (1935-1947) with a 1071-916 record. His 1236-1055 total currently stands 37th all-time on the wins list.
