James J Collins was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1945 along with Roger Bresnahan, Dan Brouthers, Fred Clarke, Edward Delahanty, Hugh Duffy, Hugh Jennings, King Kelly, James O'Rourke and Wilbert Robinson. Collins was a third baseman with 14 seasons MLB experience playing with the Louisville Colonels (1895), Boston Beaneaters (1895-1900), Boston Americans (1901-1907) and Philadelphia Athletics (1907-1908). For his MLB career he hit .294/.343/.409 with 65 HR, 983 RBI, 1055 R, 194 SB in 1725 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1897 when he hit .346/.400/.482 with 6 HR, 132 RBI, 103 R, 14 SB in 134 games, 1898 when he hit .328/.377/.479 with 15 HR, 111 RBI, 107 R, 12 SB in 152 games and 1901 when he hit .332/.375/.495 with 6 HR, 94 RBI, 108 R, 19 SB in 138 games.
He was the National League home run champ in 1898.
He won the World Series with Boston in 1903. He did double Duty as manager with the Boston Americans (1901-1906) with a 455-376 record.
