Hugh A Jennings was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1945 along with Roger Bresnahan, Dan Brouthers, Fred Clarke, James Collins, Edward Delahanty, Hugh Duffy, King Kelly, James O'Rourke and Wilbert Robinson. Jennings was a SS\1B with 18 seasons MLB experience playing with the Louisville Colonels (1891-1893), Baltimore Orioles (1893-1899), Brooklyn Superbas (1899-1900, 1903), Philadelphia Phillies (1901-1902) and Detroit Tigers (1907, 1909, 1910, 1912, 1918). For his MLB career he hit .312/.391/.406 with 18 HR, 840 RBI, 992 R, 359 SB in 1284 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1895 when he hit .386/.444/.512 with 4 HR, 125 RBI, 159 R, 53 SB in 131 games, 1896 when he hit .401/.472/.488 with 0 HR, 121 RBI, 125 R, 70 SB in 130 games and 1894 when he hit .335/.411/.479 with 4 HR, 109 RBI, 134 R, 37 SB in 128 games.
Jennings holds the MLB career hit by pitch record with 287.
He had a career as a manager for the Detroit Tigers (1907-1920) with a 1110-961 record and the New York Giants (1924-1925) with a 53-23 record. His 1184 career wins ranks 41st all time.
