John P (Honus) Wagner was inducted into the first MLB Hall of Fame class in 1936 along with Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson and Babe Ruth. Wagner was a SS\1B\OF with 21 seasons MLB experience playing with the Louisville Colonels (1897-1899) and Pittsburgh Pirates (1900-1917). For his MLB career he hit .328/.391/.467 with 101 HR, 1733 RBI, 1739 R and 723 SB in 2794 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1901 when he hit .353/.417/.494 with 6 HR, 126 RBI, 101 R, 49 SB in 140 games, 1908 when he hit .354/.415/.542 with 10 HR, 109 RBI, 100 R, 53 SB in 151 games and 1905 when he hit .363/.427/.505 with 6 HR, 101 RBI, 114 R, 57 SB in 147 games.
Wagner won eight National League batting titles: 1900 (.381), 1903 (.355), 1904 (.349), 1906 (.339), 1907 (.350), 1908 (.354), 1909 (.339) and 1911 (.334). He led the NL in doubles in 1900 (45), 1902 (30), 1904 (44), 1906 (38), 1907 (38), 1908 (39) and 1909 (39). He led the NL in triples in 1900 (22), 1903 (19) and 1908 (19). He led the NL in RBI in 1901, 1902 (91), 1908, 1909 (100) and 1912 (102). He led the NL in runs in 1902 (105) and 1906 (103). He led the NL in steals in 1901, 1902 (42), 1904 (53), 1907 (61) and 1908.
He was second in NL MVP voting in 1912. Wagner won the World Series Championship with the Pirates in 1909. His 3430 career hits ranks sixth all time. He was also the Pirates manager in 1917.
