Henry B (Hank) Greenberg was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1956 along with Joe Cronin. Greenberg was an 1B\OF with 13 seasons MLB experience playing with the Detroit Tigers (1930, 1933-1941, 1945-1946) and Pittsburgh Pirates (1947). He served in the United Stated Army 1940-1941 and reenlisted in the United States Army Air Forces 1942-1945 during World War II. For his MLB career he hit .313/.412/.605 with 331 HR, 1276 RBI, 1051 R, 58 SB in 1394 games.
I believe his best three seasons were 1937 when he hit .337/.436/.668 with 40 HR, 183 RBI, 137 R, 8 SB in 154 games, 1935 when he hit .328/.411/.628 with 36 HR, 170 RBI, 121 R, 4 SB in 152 games and 1940 when he hit .340/.433/.670 with 41 HR, 150 RBI, 129 R, 6 SB in 148 games.
Greenberg led the American League in doubles in 1934 (63) and 1940 (50). He led the AL in home runs in 1935, 1938 (58), 1940 and 1946 (44). He led the AL in RBI four times in 1935, 1937, 1940 and 1946 (127). He led the AL in runs in 1938 (144).
He was an All Star five times in (1937-1940, 1945). Greenberg was the American League MVP in 1935 and 1940. He won two World Series Championships with the Tigers in 1935 and 1945.
