George Wright was inducted into the second MLB Hall of Fame class in 1937 along with Morgan Bulkeley, Ban Johnson, Nap Lajoie, Connie Mack, John McGraw, Tris Speaker and Cy Young. Wright was the shortstop on the Cincinnati Red Stockings which was the first professional baseball team in 1869-1870. He had 12 seasons MLB experience playing with the Boston Red Stockings (1871-1878, 1880-1881) and Providence Grays (1879, 1882). For his MLB career he hit .301/.318/.398 with 11 HR, 326 RBI, 665 R, 47 SB in 591 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1875 when he hit .333/.337/.431 with 2 HR, 61 RBI, 106 R, 13 SB in 79 games, 1873 when he hit .387/.404/.511 with 3 HR, 43 RBI, 99 R, 9 SB in 59 games and 1872 when he hit .337/.345/.471 with 2 HR, 35 RBI, 87 R, 14 SB in 48 games.
Wright was inducted as a pioneer\executive. He also was manager of the Grays in 1879 with a 59-25 record.
