Charles L (Gabby) Harnett was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1955 along with Home Run Baker, Joe DiMaggio, Theodore Lyons, Raymond Schalk and Dazzy Vance. Harnett was a catcher with 20 seasons MLB experience playing with the Chicago Cubs (1922-1940) and New York Giants (1941). For his MLB career he hit .297/.370/.489 with 236 HR, 1179 RBI, 867 R, 28 SB in 1990 games.
I believe his best three seasons were 1930 when he hit .339/.404/.630 with 37 HR, 122 RBI, 84 R, 0 SB in 141 games, 1935 when he hit .344/.404/.545 with 13 HR, 91 RBI, 67 R, 1 SB in 116 games and 1934 when he hit .299/.358/.502 with 22 HR, 90 RBI, 58 R, 0 SB in 130 games.
He was an All Star team 6 times (1933-1938). Harnett was the National League MVP in 1935. He was second in NL MVP voting in 1937.
He also served as the Cubs manager (1938-1940) with a 203-176 record.
