Fred C Clarke was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1945 along with Roger Bresnahan, Dan Brouthers, James Collins, Edward Delahanty, Hugh Duffy, Hugh Jennings, King Kelly, James O'Rourke and Wilbert Robinson. Clarke was an outfielder with 21 seasons MLB experience playing with the Louisville Colonels (1894-1899) and Pittsburgh Pirates (1900-1915). For his MLB career he hit .312/.386/.429 with 67 HR, 1015 RBI, 1622 R, 509 SB in 2246 games.
I believe his best three seasons were 1897 when he hit .390/.461/.530 with 6 HR, 67 RBI, 122 R, 59 SB in 130 games, 1899 when he hit .340/.404/.432 with 5 HR, 70 RBI, 122 R, 49 SB in 149 games and 1901 when he hit .324/.395/.461 with 6 HR, 60 RBI, 118 R, 23 SB in 129 games.
Clarke led the National League in doubles in 1903 (32). He led the NL in triples in 1906 (13).
His career triples total of 220 is 7th all-time. He won the World Series Championship with the Pirates in 1909.
Clarke also pulled double duty as manager for the Colonels (1897-1899) with a 180-212 record and the Pirates (1900-1915) with a 1422-969 record. His 1602 wins currently ranks 17th all-time.
