Edward T Collins was inducted into the fourth MLB Hall of Fame class in 1939 along with Cap Anson, Charles Comiskey, Candy Cummings, Buck Ewing, Lou Gehrig, Wee Willie Keeler, Old Hoss Radbourn, George Sisler and Albert Spalding. Collins was a second baseman with 25 seasons MLB experience playing with the Philadelphia Athletics (1906-1914, 1927-1930) and Chicago White Sox (1915-1926). For his MLB career he hit .333/.424/.429 with 47 HR, 1300 RBI, 1821 R, 741 SB in 2826 games.
I believe his best seasons were 1914 when he hit .344/.452/.452 with 2 HR, 85 RBI, 122 R, 58 SB in 152 games, 1913 when he hit .345/.441/.453 with 3 HR, 73 RBI, 125 R, 55 SB in 148 games and 1912 when he hit .348/.450/.435 with 0 HR, 64 RBI, 137 R, 63 SB in 153 games.
Collins led the American League in runs in 1912, 1913 and 1914. He led the AL in steals in 1910 (81), 1919 (33), 1923 (48) and 1924 (42).
He was the American League MVP in 1914. He was second in AL MVP voting in 1923 and 1924. He played on four World Series Champion teams: the Athletics in 1910, 1911, 1913 and the White Sox in 1917. He is still the MLB leader in sacrifice hits with 512. His 3314 career hits ranks ninth all time. He was the manager of the White Sox 1924-1926.
