Cornelius A Mack was inducted into the second MLB Hall of Fame class in 1937 along with Morgan Bulkeley, Ban Johnson, Nap Lajoie, John McGraw, Tris Speaker, George Wright and Cy Young. As a player he was a C\1B\OF with the Washington Nationals (1886-1889), Buffalo Bisons (1890) and Pittsburgh Pirates (1891-1896). For his career he hit .245/.305/.300 with 5 HR, 265 RBI, 391 R, 127 SB in 723 games.
However it was his managerial career that warranted his inclusion to the MLB Hall of Fame. He got his start while with the Pittsburgh Pirates when he was 149-134 over the three years 1894-1896. His next managerial job lasted 50 years as he was with the Philadelphia Athletics 1901-1950. His record with the Athletics was 3582-3814. His totals of 3731 wins, 3948 losses and 7755 games are all MLB records for a manager. He led the Athletics to World Series titles in 1910, 1911, 1913, 1929 and 1930. Although he was inducted into the Hall of Fame he continued to manage the Athletics more than a decade after that.
