Charles L Gehringer was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1949 along with Mordecai Brown and Kid Nichols. Gehringer was a second baseman with 19 seasons MLB experience all with the Detroit Tigers (1924-1942). For his MLB career he hit .320/.404/.480 with 184 HR, 1427 RBI, 1774 R, 181 SB in 2323 games.
I believe his best three seasons were 1934 when he hit .356/.450/.517 with 11 HR, 127 RBI, 134 R, 11 SB in 154 games, 1936 when he hit .354/.431/.555 with 15 HR, 116 RBI, 144 R, 4 SB in 154 games and 1929 when he hit .339/.405/.532 with 13 HR, 106 RBI, 131 R, 27 SB in 155 games.
He won the American League MVP in 1937 when he hit .371/.458/.520 with 14 HR, 96 RBI, 133 R, 11 SB in 144 games.
He was second in AL MVP voting in 1934.
Gehringer won the American League batting title in 1937. He led the AL in doubles in 1929 (45) and 1936 (60). He led the AL in triples in 1929 (19). He led the AL in runs in 1929 and 1934. He led the AL in steals in 1929.
He was an All Star six times (1933-1938). Gehringer won the World Series Championship with the Tigers in 1935.
