Charles Comiskey was inducted into the fourth MLB Hall of Fame class in 1939 along with Cap Anson, Edward Collins, Candy Cummings, Buck Ewing, Lou Gehrig, Wee Willie Keeler, Old Hoss Radbourn, George Sisler and Albert Spalding. Comiskey was a first baseman with 13 seasons MLB experience playing with the St Louis Brown Stockings (1882), St Louis Browns (1883-1889, 1891), Chicago Pirates (1890) and Cincinnati Reds (1892-1894). For his MLB career he hit .264/.293/.337 with 28 HR, 883 RBI, 992 R, 416 SB in 1390 games. He also served as manager the majority of the years he was playing: Browns (1883-1889, 1891), Pirates (1890), Reds (1892-1894). His record as manager was 839-542.
However it was his career as a baseball executive that warranted his inclusion into the Hall of Fame. After his time with the Reds he bought a minor league club in the Western League which he moved to St Paul, MN. The Western League eventually expanded and became the American League and Comiskey moved his team to Chicago and changed their name from Saints to White Stockings. The American League declared itself a Major League organization in 1901 and Comiskey changed the team name to White Sox. He was the owner of the White Sox 1901-1931. The White Sox won two World Series under his ownership in 1906 and 1917.
