Carl Hubbell was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1947 along with Mickey Cochrane, Frank Frisch and Lefty Grove. Hubbell was a LHP with 16 seasons MLB experience pitching all with the New York Giants (1928-1943). For his MLB career he was 253-154 with a 2.98 ERA, 1677 K, 1.17 WHIP, 33 SV, 260 complete games, 36 shut outs in 3590.1 IP over 535 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1933 when he was 23-12 with a 1.66 ERA, 156 K, 0.98 WHIP, 5 SV, 22 complete games, 10 shut outs in 308.2 IP over 45 games, 1936 when he was 26-6 with a 2.31 ERA, 123 K, 1.06 WHIP, 3 SV, 25 complete games, 3 shut outs in 304.0 IP over 42 games and 1937 when he was 22-8 with a 3.20 ERA, 159 K, 1.21 WHIP, 4 SV, 18 complete games, 4 shut outs in 261.2 IP over 39 games.
Hubbell led the National League in wins in 1933, 1936 and 1937. He led the NL in ERA in 1933, 1934 (2.30) and 1936. He led the NL in strikeouts in 1937. He led the NL in shut outs in 1933. He led the NL in saves in 1934 (8).
He was selected to 9 All-Star teams in (1933-1938, 1940-1942). Hubbell won the National League MVP in 1933 and 1936. He won a World Series Championship with the Giants in 1933.
