William (Buck) Ewing was inducted into the fourth MLB Hall of Fame class in 1939 along with Cap Anson, Edward Collins, Charles Comiskey, Candy Cummings, Lou Gehrig, Wee Willie Keeler, Old Hoss Radbourn, George Sisler and Albert Spalding. Ewing was a C\1B\OF with 18 seasons MLB experience playing with the Troy Trojans (1880-1882), New York Gothams (1883-1884), New York Giants (1885-1892), Cleveland Spiders (1893-1894) and Cincinnati Reds (1895-1897). For his MLB career he hit .303/.351/.456 with 71 HR, 883 RBI, 1129 R, 354 SB in 1315 games.
I believe his best three seasons were 1893 when he hit .344/.394/.496 with 6 HR, 122 RBI, 117 R, 47 SB in 116 games, 1895 when he hit .318/.363/.468 with 5 HR, 94 RBI, 90 R, 34 SB in 105 games and 1889 when he hit .327/.383/.477 with 4 HR, 87 RBI, 91 R, 34 SB in 99 games.
In 1883 he became the first player in MLB history to hit double digit home runs in a season when he had 10. He led the NL in triples in 1884 (20).
He also had an over lapping career as a manager compling a 489-395 record with the Giants (1890, 1900) and the Reds (1895-1899).
