William R Hamilton was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1961 along with Max Carey. Hamilton was an outfielder with 14 seasons MLB experience playing with the Kansas City Cowboys (1888-1889), Philadelphia Phillies (1890-1895) and Boston Beaneaters (1896-1901). For his MLB career he hit .344/.455/.432 with 40 HR, 742 RBI, 1697 R, 914 SB in 1594 games.
I believe his three best seasons were 1894 when he hit .403/.521/.523 with 4 HR, 90 RBI, 198 R, 100 SB in 132 games, 1895 when he hit .389/.490/.495 with 7 HR, 74 RBI, 166 R, 97 SB in 123 games and 1897 when he hit .343/.461/.414 with 3 HR, 61 RBI, 152 R, 66 SB in 127 games.
Hamilton was the National League batting champ in 1891 (.340) and 1893 (.380). He led the NL in runs in 1891 (141), 1894, 1895 and 1897. He led the American Association in stolen bases in 1889 (111). He led the NL in steals in 1890 (102), 1891 (111), 1894 and 1895.
His 914 career stolen base total ranks third all time.
