Al Simmons MLB Hall of Fame 1953

Aloysius H (Al) Simmons was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame class of 1953 along with Edward Barrow, Chief Bender, Thomas Connolly, William Klem, Dizzy Dean, Bobby Wallace and Harry Wright. Simmons is an outfielder with 20 seasons MLB experience playing with the Philadelphia Athletics (1924-1932, 1940-1941, 1944), Chicago White Sox (1933-1935), Detroit Tigers (1936), Washington Senators (1937-1938), Boston Bees (1939), Cincinnati Reds (1939) and Boston Red Sox (1943). For his MLB career he hit .334/.380/.535 with 307 HR, 1827 RBI, 1507 R, 88 SB in 2215 games. 

I believe his best three seasons were 1930 when he hit .381/.423/.708 with 36 HR, 165 RBI, 152 R, 9 SB in 138 games, 1932 when he hit .322/.368/.548 with 35 HR, 151 RBI, 144 R, 4 SB in 154 games and 1925 when he hit .387/.419/.599 with 24 HR, 129 RBI, 122 R, 7 SB in 153 games. 

Simmons was the American League batting champ in 1930 and 1931 (.390). He led the AL in RBI in 1929 (157). He led the AL in runs in 1930.

He was an All Star three times (1933-1935). He was second in AL MVP voting in 1925. Simmons won two World Series Championships with the Athletics in 1929 and 1930.
