Nomar Mazara May 2016 AL Rookie of the Month

Nomar Mazara of the Texas Rangers was selected the American League Rookie of the Month for May 2016. It was a repeat performance after claiming the award in April. During the month the he hit 30 for 106, .283/.319/.491 with 1 2B, 7 HR, 17 RBI, 12 R, 0 SB and 6 BB in 27 games. This season the outfielder is hitting .299/.344/.471 with 9 HR, 24 RBI, 22 R, 0 SB in 45 games. He originally signed with the Rangers in 2011 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Mazara turned 21 on April 26.
