Maikel Franco was the Philadelphia Phillies Minor League Player of the Year in 2013. The 3B\1B split 2013 between Class A Advance Clearwater and Double A Reading. He hit .299/.349/.576 with 16 HR, 52 RBI, 42 R, 0 SB in 65 games at Clearwater and hit .339/.363/.563 with 15 HR, 51 RBI, 47 R, 1 SB in 69 games at Reading. He originally signed with the Phillies in 2010 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Franco turned 21 on August 21.
