Alex Castellanos traded to Red Sox

Alex Castellanos was traded by the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Boston Red Sox on October 23, 2013. In exchange the the Dodgers received Jeremy Hazelbaker and cash.

Castellanos is an outfielder who split 2013 between Triple A Albuquerque and the Dodgers. He hit .257/.347/.468 with 19 HR, 61 RBI, 75 R, 19 SB in 105 games at Albuquerque and hit .167/.167/.389 with 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 8 games with the Dodgers. He does have two seasons of limited MLB experience with the Dodgers and for his career has hit .171/.186/.390 with 2 HR, 4 RBI, 5 R, 0 SB in 24 games with the Dodgers. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the tenth round in 2008. Castellanos turned 27 on August 4th.

Hazelbaker is an outfielder who played 2013 at Triple A Pawtucket of the Red Sox where he hit .257/.313/.374 with 11 HR, 54 RBI, 62 R, 37 SB in 121 games. He was originally drafted by the Red Sox in the fourth round in 2009. Hazelbaker turned 26 on August 14.
