Chris Coghlan was traded by the Chicago Cubs to the Oakland Athletics on February 25, 2016. The Cubs in exchange received Aaron Brooks.
Coghlan is an OF\2B\3B who hit .250/.341/.443 with 16 HR, 41 RBI, 64 R, 11 SB in 148 games with the Cubs in 2015. Over eight MLB seasons with the Athletics, Cubs and Marlins he has hit .261/.333/.404 with 51 HR, 211 RBI, 325 R, 46 SB in 713 games. He was originally drafted by the Marlins with the 36th pick of the first round in 2006. Coghlan will be 31 on June 18.
RHP Brooks split 2015 at Triple A Nashville and the Athletics after getting traded in July 2015. He was 1-0, 2.25 ERA, 11 K, 0.75 WHIP, .209 BAA in 12.0 IP over 2 games at Nashville and 3-4, 6.71 ERA, 35 K, 1.59 WHIP, .321 BAA in 51.0 IP over 11 games with the Athletics. He was originally drafted by the Royals in the ninth round in 2011. Brooks turned 26 on April 27.
