Dan Straily traded to Padres

Dan Straily was traded by the Houston Astros to the San Diego Padres on March 28, 2016. The Astros in exchange received Erik Kratz.

RHP Straily split 2015 between Triple A Fresno and the Astros. He was 10-9, 4.77 ERA, 124 K, 1.40 WHIP, .289 BAA in 122.2 IP over 22 games at Fresno and 0-1, 5.40 ERA, 14 K, 1.44 WHIP, .239 BAA in 16.2 IP over 4 games with the Astros. Over five MLB seasons with the Reds, Astros, Cubs and Athletics he is 16-15, 4.38 ERA, 273 K, 1.29 WHIP, .232 BAA in 327.2 IP over 65 games with 55 GS. He was originally drafted by the Athletics in the 24th round in 2009. Straily turned 27 on December 1st.

Kratz is a catcher who signed with the Padres in November 2015 after splitting 2015 between Triple A Omaha, the Royals, Triple A Tacoma, Triple A Lehigh Valley and the Phillies. He hit .214/.274/.464 with 4 HR, 12 RBI, 7 R, 0 SB in 15 games at Omaha, was hitless in four games with the Royals, .205/.279/.308 with 0 HR, 5 RBI, 3 R, 0 SB in 10 games at Tacoma, .312/.433/.558 with 3 HR, 15 RBI, 14 R, 1 SB in 26 games at Lehigh Valley and .227/.261/.318 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 3 R, 0 SB in 12 games with the Phillies, Over seven MLB seasons with the Astros, Phillies, Royals, Blue Jays and Phillies he has hit .210/.261/.381 with 23 HR, 69 RBI, 52 R, 0 SB in 207 games. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the 29th round in 2002. Kratz will be 36 on June 15.
