Scott Kazmir traded to Astros

Scott Kazmir was traded by the Oakland Athletics to the Houston Astros on July 23, 2015. The Athletics in exchange received Daniel Mengden and Jacob Nottingham.

LHP Kazmir was 5-5, 2.38 ERA, 101 K, 1.09 WHIP, .213 BAA in 109.2 IP over 18 games with the Athletics. Over 11 MLB seasons with the Astros, Athletics, Indians, Angels, and Rays he is 97-84, 3.93 ERA, 1423 K, 1.34 WHIP, .246 BAA in 1487.0 IP over 260 games. He was originally drafted by the Mets with the 15th pick of the first round in 2002. Kazmir turned 31 on January 24.

RHP Mengden split 2015 between Class A Quad Cities and Class A Advanced Lancaster. He was 4-1, 1.16 ERA, 36 K, 0.98 WHIP, .216 BAA in 38.2 IP over 8 games at Quad Cities with 6 GS and 2-1, 5.26 ERA, 48 K, 1.55 WHIP, .298 BAA, 1 SV in 49.2 IP over 10 games at Lancaster with 8 GS. He was originally drafted by the Astros in the fourth round in 2014. Mengden turned 22 on February 19.

Nottingham is a catcher who also split 2015 between Quad Cities and Lancaster. He hit .326/.387/.543 with 10 HR, 46 RBI, 34 R, 1 SB in 59 games at Quad Cities and .324/.368/.606 with 4 HR, 14 RBI, 14 R, 0 SB in 17 games at Lancaster. He was originally drafted by the Astros in the sixth round in 2013. Nottingham turned 20 on April 3rd.
