2012 NL All Star Reserves

Here are the National League reserves for the 2012 All Star game:


Second baseman Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros is in his first All Star game. In 2012 he is hitting .303/.344/.441 with 5 HR, 25 RBI, 47 R and 14 SB in 76 games. For his career he is hitting .291/.324/.406 with 7 HR, 37 RBI, 73 R and 21 SB in 133 games. He originally signed with the Astros as an amateur free agent in 2007 out of Venezuela.


Outfielder Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers is in his fifth All Star game. In 2012 he is hitting .305/.388/.597 with 23 HR, 59 RBI, 52 R and 13 SB in 77 games. For his career he is hitting .311/.372/.566 with 184 HR, 590 RBI, 558 R and 109 SB in 806 games. He was originally drafted by the Brewers with the fifth pick of the first round in 2005.


Outfielder Jay Bruce of the Cincinnati Reds is in his second All Star game. In 2012 he is hitting .254/.330/.507 with 17 HR, 54 RBI, 45 R and 4 SB in 80 games. For his career he is hitting .256/.331/.478 with 117 HR, 331 RBI, 319 R and 24 SB in 594 games. He was originally drafted by the Reds with the 12th pick of the first round in 2005.


Shortstop Starlin Castro of the Chicago Cubs is in his second All Star game. In 2012 he is hitting .287/.312/.413 with 6 HR, 40 RBI, 39 R and 16 SB in 82 games. For his career he is hitting .300/.336/.420 with 19 HR, 147 RBI, 183 R and 48 SB in 365 games. He originally signed with the Cubs as an amateur free agent in 2006 out of the Dominican Republic.


Shortstop Ian Desmond of the Washington Nationals is in his first All Star game. In 2012 he is hitting .282/.314/.502 with 15 HR, 48 RBI, 44 R and 9 SB in 79 games. For his career he is hitting .266/.306/.412 with 37 HR, 174 RBI, 177 R and 52 SB in 408 games. He was originally drafted by the Expos in the third round in 2004.


Third baseman David Freese of the St Louis Cardinals is in his first All Star game. In 2012 he is hitting .285/.332/.472 with 13 HR, 50 RBI, 37 R and 1 SB in 76 games. For his career he is hitting .294/.347/.443 with 28 HR, 148 RBI, 109 R and 3 SB in 260 games. He was originally drafted by the Padres in the ninth round in 2006.


Outfielder Carlos Gonzalez of the Colorado Rockies is in his first All Star game. In 2012 he is hitting .336/.394/.589 with 17 HR, 58 RBI, 59 R and 10 SB in 75 games. For his career he is hitting .304/.357/.532 with 94 HR, 322 RBI, 346 R and 76 SB in 521 games. He originally signed with the Diamondbacks as an amateur free agent in 2002 out of Venezuela.


First baseman Bryan LaHair of the Chicago Cubs is in his first All Star game. In 2012 he is hitting .289/.369/.529 with 14 HR, 30 RBI, 32 R and 1 SB in 71 games. For his career he is hitting .276/.353/.467 with 19 HR, 46 RBI, 56 R and 1 SB in 136 games. He was originally drafted by the Mariners in the 39th round in 2002.


Outfielder Andrew McCutchen of the Pittsburgh Pirates is in his second All Star game. In 2012 he is hitting .356/.410/.603 with 16 HR, 54 RBI, 53 R and 14 SB in 78 games. For his career he is hitting .289/.372/.481 with 67 HR, 253 RBI, 308 R and 92 SB in 498 games. He was originally drafted by the Pirates with the 11th pick of the first round in 2005.


Catcher Yadier Molina of the St Louis Cardinals is in his fourth All Star game. In 2012 he is hitting .304/.357/.500 with 13 HR, 45 RBI, 35 R and 8 SB in 75 games. For his career he is hitting .276/.333/.386 with 68 HR, 435 RBI, 313 R and 33 SB in 1019 games. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the fourth round in 2000.


Catcher Carlos Ruiz of the Philadelphia Phillies is in his first All Star game. In 2012 he is hitting .355/.419/.596 with 13 HR, 46 RBI, 40 R and 3 SB in 75 games. For his career he is hitting .276/.364/.417 with 49 HR, 277 RBI, 258 R and 14 SB in 694 games. He originally signed with the Phillies as an amateur free agent in 1998 out of Panama.


Outfielder Giancarlo Stanton of the Miami Marlins is in his first All Star game. In 2012 he is hitting .283/.364/.555 with 19 HR, 50 RBI, 45 R and 5 SB in 78 games. For his career he is hitting .266/.349/.532 with 75 HR, 196 RBI, 169 R and 15 SB in 328 games. He was originally drafted by the Marlins in the second round in 2007.


Third baseman David Wright of the New York Mets is in his sixth All Star game. In 2012 he is hitting .354/.443/.570 with 11 HR, 59 RBI, 55 R and 8 SB in 79 games. For his career he is hitting .303/.384/.512 with 194 HR, 784 RBI, 754 R and 159 SB in 1185 games. He was originally drafted by the Mets with the 38th pick of the first round in 2001.

Outfielder Matt Holliday of the St Louis Cardinals is in his sixth All Star game. Holliday was added to replace Yadier Molina who went on bereavement leave. In 2012 he is hitting .317/.398/.524 with 14 HR, 56 RBI, 56 R and 4 SB in 82 games. For his career he is hitting .315/.388/.540 with 216 HR, 826 RBI, 807 R and 95 SB in 1218 games. He was originally drafted by the Rockies in the seventh round in 1998.


Outfielder Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals will be in his first All Star game. Harper was added to replace Giancarlo Stanton who is going on the DL. In 2012 the MLB rookie is hitting .283/.355/.475 with 8 HR, 25 RBI, 43 R and 8 SB in 62 games. He was originally drafted by the Nationals with the first over all pick in 2010.


Outfielder Michael Bourn of the Atlanta Braves will be in his second All Star game. Bourn was added to replace Ian Desmond who is injured. In 2012 he is hitting .310/.366/.452 with 7 HR, 32 RBI, 60 R and 24 SB in 84 games. For his career he is hitting .276/.340/.370 with 20 HR, 190 RBI, 423 R and 258 SB in 800 games. He was originally drafted by the Phillies in the fourth round in 2003.
