Chris Bostick traded to Pirates

Chris Bostick was traded by the Washington Nationals to the Pittsburgh Pirates on September 26, 2016. The Nationals in exchange received Taylor Gushue and cash.

Bostick is a second baseman who split 2016 between Double A Harrisburg and Triple A Syracuse. He hit .290/.356/.462 with 6 HR, 33 RBI, 34 R, 8 SB in 71 games at Harrisburg and .203/.261/.297 with 2 HR, 18 RBI, 27 R, 3 SB in 64 games at Triple A Syracuse. He was originally drafted by the Athletics in the 44th round in 2011, was traded to the Rangers in 2013 and traded to the Nationals in 2014. Bostick turned 23 on March 24.

Gushue is a catcher who hit .226/.282/.357 with 8 HR, 38 RBI, 42 R, 0 SB in 90 games at Class A Advanced Bradenton in 2016. His minor league caught stealing rate is 25%. He was originally drafted by the Pirates in the fourth round in 2014. Gushue will be 23 on December 19.
