Josh Staumont of the Surprise Saguaros was selected the Arizona Fall League Pitcher of the Week for the span of October 17, 2016 through October 23, 2016. For the week he was 1-0, 1.23 ERA, 2 GS, 7.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 HR, 0 HBP, 3 BB and 8 K. This fall the RHP is 2-1, 3.14 ERA, 17 K, 0.98 WHIP in 14.1 IP over 4 games.
The Royals prospect had split the 2016 season between Class A Advanced Wilmington and Double A Northwest Arkansas. He was 2-10, 5.05 ERA, 94 K, 1.77 WHIP, .230 BAA in 73.0 IP over 18 games with 15 GS at Wilmington and 2-1, 3.04 ERA, 73 K, 1.57 WHIP, .232 BAA in 50.1 IP over 11 games at NW Arkansas. He was originally drafted by the Royals in the second round in 2015. Staumont will be 23 on December 21.
