Corey Seager of the Los Angeles Dodgers was selected the Sporting News National League Rookie of the Year for 2016. This season the shortstop hit .308/.365/.512 with 26 HR, 72 RBI, 105 R, 3 SB in 157 games.
He finished with 143 votes from his fellow players. Trea Turner of the Nationals was second with 15 votes. The remaining of the top five were Kenta Maeda (Dodgers, 6), Trevor Story (Rockies, 5) and Seung-hwan Oh (Cardinals, 3).
He was originally drafted by the Dodgers with the 18th pick of the first round in 2012. Seager turned 22 on April 27.
