German Marquez of the Hartford Yard Goats was selected the Eastern League Pitcher of the Year for 2016. This season the RHP was 9-6, 2.85 ERA, 126 K, 1.16 WHIP, .245 BAA in 135.2 IP over 21 games at Hartford, 2-0, 4.35 ERA, 29 K, 1.16 WHIP, .254 BAA in 31.0 IP over 5 games at Triple A Albuquerque and 1-1, 5.23 ERA, 15 K, 1.65 WHIP, .326 BAA in 20.2 IP over 6 games with GS with the Rockies. Hartford is the Triple A team of the Colorado Rockies. He originally signed with the Rays in 2011 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela and was traded to the Rockies in January 2016. Marquez turned 21 on February 22.
