Chris Carpenter traded to Red Sox as compensation for Theo Epstein
Chris Carpenter was traded by the Chicago Cubs to the Boston Red Sox as compensation for Theo Epstein. A player to be named later will complete the deal. RHP Carpenter split 2011 between Double A, Triple A and the Cubs. He was 1-1 with a 4.38 ERA, six strikeouts, 1.14 WHIP and one save in 12.1 innings over 10 games at Double A, was 2-3 with a 6.53 ERA, 28 strikeouts, 1.81 WHIP and one save in 30.1 innings over 22 games at Triple A and was 0-0 with a 2.79 ERA, eight strikeouts and 1.97 WHIP in 9.2 innings over 10 games with the Cubs. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the third round in 2008.
