2011 Where are they now 2009 MLB draft picks 61 to 65

Earlier I looked at how the first round players from the 2009 draft did during the 2011 season. Yet teams aren't only stocked with former first round picks. Now I'm going to check how players from the second round in 2009 did looking at picks 61 to 65. Traditionally players drafted out of college advance faster than those drafted out of high school and pitchers usually advance faster than position players. Some players might also be traded to help their team get an established player that can help their team improve immediately.

The Chicago White Sox drafted outfielder Trayce Thompson 61st out of Santa Margarita High School in California. He played 2011 at Class A and hit .241/.329/.457 with 24 home runs, 87 RBI, 95 runs and 8 steals in 136 games.

The Texas Rangers drafted third baseman Thomas Mendonca 62nd out of Fresno State. He played 2011 at Double A and hit .278/.335/.492 with 25 home runs, 87 RBI, 75 runs and zero steals in 125 games.

The Cleveland Indians drafted outfielder Jason Kipnis 63rd out of Arizona State. He split 2011 between Triple A and the Indians. Hit hit .280/.362/.484 with 12 home runs, 55 RBI, 65 runs and 12 steals in 92 games at Triple A and hit .272/.333/.507 with seven home runs, 19 RBI, 24 runs and 5 steals in 36 games playing second base with the Indians.

The Arizona Diamondbacks drafted outfielder Marc Krauss 64th out of Ohio University. He played 2011 at Double A and hit .242/.340/.439 with 16 home runs, 65 RBI, 69 runs and 3 steals in 125 games.

The Los Angeles Dodgers drafted RHP Garrett Gould 65th out of Maize High School in Kansas. He pitched 2011 at Class A and was 11-6 with a 2.40 ERA, 104 strikeouts and 1.12 WHIP in 123.2 innings over 27 games.
