2011 Where are they now 2007 MLB draft picks 81 to 85

Earlier I looked at how the first round players from the 2007 draft did during the 2011 season. Yet teams aren't only stocked with former first round picks. Now I'm going to check how players from the second round in 2007 did looking at picks 81 to 85. Traditionally players drafted out of college advance faster than those drafted out of high school and pitchers usually advance faster than position players. Some players might also be traded to help their team get an established player that can help their team improve immediately.

The San Diego Padres drafted second baseman Eric Sogard 81st out of Arizona State. He was traded to the Athletics in 2010. He split 2011 between Triple A and the Athletics. He hit .298/.381/.410 with five home runs, 37 RBI, 55 runs and 13 steals in 79 games at Triple A and hit .200/.243/.329 with two home runs, four RBI, seven runs and zero steals in 27 games with the Athletics.

The St Louis Cardinals drafted RHP Jesse Todd 82nd out of Arkansas-Fayetteville. He was traded to the Indians in 2009. He started 2011 with the Indians, was released by the Indians and claimed by the Yankees on May 6 and was released by the Yankees and claimed by the Cardinals on May 16. He was 0-0 with a 11.00 ERA, six strikeouts and 2.67 WHIP in 9 innings over eight games with the Indian's Triple A, was 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA, one strikeout and 1.80 WHIP in 1.2 innings over two games at the Yankee's Triple A and was 2-4 with a 4.91 ERA, 38 strikeouts and 1.36 WHIP in 44 innings over 41 games with the Cardinals Triple A.

The Philadelphia Phillies drafted third baseman Travis Mattair 83rd out of Southridge High School in Washington. He split 2011 between Class A and Class A Advanced. He hit .266/.308/.395 with two home runs, 18 RBI, 15 runs and zero steals in 33 games at Class A and hit .207/.279/.356 with six home runs, 26 RBI, 19 runs and 4 steals in 57 games at Class A Advanced.

The Boston Red Sox drafted third baseman Jeffrey Morris 84th out of Virgil I Grissom High School in Alabama. He did not sign, played college baseball at Auburn and was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the fourth round in 2010. He split 2011 between Class A Advanced and Double A. He hit .271/.299/.461 with 19 home runs, 67 RBI, 75 runs and 7 steals in 126 games at Class A Advanced and hit .353/.353/.706 with one home run, two RBI, six runs and zero steals in four games at Double A.

The Toronto Blue Jays drafted second baseman John Tolisano 85th out of Estero High School in Florida. He played 2011 at Double A and hit .221/.317/.416 with 14 home runs, 53 RBI, 46 runs and 7 steals in 111 games.
