2011 Where are they now 2008 MLB draft picks 66 to 70

Earlier I looked at how the first round players from the 2008 draft did during the 2011 season. Yet teams aren't only stocked with former first round picks. Now I'm going to check how players from the second round in 2008 did looking at picks 66 to 70. Traditionally players drafted out of college advance faster than those drafted out of high school and pitchers usually advance faster than position players. Some players might also be traded to help their team get an established player that can help their team improve immediately.


The Seattle Mariners drafted outfielder Dennis Raden 66th out of Miami. He played 2011 at Class A Advanced and hit .330/.387/.599 with 18 home runs, 75 RBI, 61 runs and 2 steals in 76 games.


The Detroit Tigers drafted RHP Cody Satterwhite 67th out Ole Miss. He missed 2010 with a shoulder injury and returned to pitch Rookie ball in 2011. He was 0-0 with a 3.60 ERA, 10 strikeouts and 1.50 WHIP in 10 innings over eight games.


The New York Mets drafted outfielder Javier Rodriguez 68th out of Puerto Rico Baseball Academy High School in Puerto Rico. He split 2011 between Class A short season and Class A. He hit .257/.349/.410  with four home runs, 43 RBI, 32 runs and 5 steals in 67 games at Class A short season and hit .209/.284/.407 with four home runs, four RBI, 10 runs and zero steals in 26 games at Class A.


The San Diego Padres drafted third baseman James Darnell 69th out of South Carolina. He split 2011 between Double A, Triple A and the Padres. He hit .333/.434/.604 with 17 home runs, 62 RBI, 62 runs and 2 steals in 76 games at Double A, hit .261/.344/.425 with six home runs, 17 RBI, 20 runs and zero steals in 35 games at Triple A and hit .222/.294/.333 with one home run, seven RBI, two runs and one steal in 18 games with the Padres.


The Atlanta Braves drafted RHP Ezekiel Spruill 70th out of Kell High School in Georgia. He split 2011 between Class A Advanced and Double A. He was 7-9 with a 3.19 ERA, 92 strikeouts and 1.01 WHIP in 129.2 innings over 20 games at Class A Advanced and was 3-2 with a 3.20 ERA, 16 strikeouts and 1.38 WHIP in 45 innings over seven games at Double A.
