2011 Where are they now 2007 MLB draft picks 76 to 80

Earlier I looked at how the first round players from the 2007 draft did during the 2011 season. Yet teams aren't only stocked with former first round picks. Now I'm going to check how players from the second round in 2007 did looking at picks 76 to 80. Traditionally players drafted out of college advance faster than those drafted out of high school and pitchers usually advance faster than position players. Some players might also be traded to help their team get an established player that can help their team improve immediately.

The Florida Marlins drafted outfielder Michael Stanton 76th out of Notre Dame High School in California. He played 2011 with the Marlins and hit .262/.356/.537 with 34 home runs, 87 RBI, 79 runs and 5 steals in 150 games.

The New York Mets drafted RHP Scott Moviel 77th out of Saint Edward High School in Ohio. He pitched 2011 at Class A Advanced and was 5-10 with a 5.10 ERA, 66 strikeouts and 1.68 WHIP in 125.1 innings over 26 games.

The Atlanta Braves drafted first baseman Frederick Freeman 78th out of El Modena High School in California. He played 2011 with the Braves and hit .282/.346/.448 with 21 home runs, 76 RBI, 67 runs and 4 steals in 157 games.

The Cincinnati Reds drafted shortstop Zachary Cozart 79th out of Ole Miss. He split 2011 between Triple A and the Reds. He hit .310/.357/.467 with seven home runs, 32 RBI, 57 runs and 9 steals in 77 games at Triple A and hit .324/.324/.486 with two home runs, three RBI, six runs and zero steals in 11 games with the Reds.

The Texas Rangers drafted shortstop Matthew West 80th out of Bellaire High School in Texas. He converted to become a RHP in 2011 and split the season between Class A short season and Class A Advanced. He was 1-2 with a 3.12 ERA, 35 strikeouts and 0.92 WHIP in 26 innings over 23 games at Class A short season and was 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA, zero strikeouts and 1.00 WHIP in one inning in one game at Class A Advanced.
