Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros was selected the American League Player of the Month for June 2016. During the month he hit 42 for 100, .420/.492/.620 with 6 2B, 1 3B, 4 HR, 15 RBI, 19 R, 6 SB and 13 BB in 26 games. This season the second baseman is hitting .355/.428/.575 with 14 HR, 49 RBI, 62 R, 21 SB in 81 games. Over six MLB seasons with the Astros he has hit .310/.353/.431 with 50 HR, 275 RBI, 403 R, 190 SB in 749 games. He originally signed with the Astros in 2007 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Altuve turned 26 on May 6th.
