Fernando Rodney traded to Marlins

Fernando Rodney was traded by the San Diego Padres to the Miami Marlins on June 30, 2016. The Padres in exchange received Chris Paddack.

RHP Rodney was 0-1, 0.31 ERA, 33 K, 0.87 WHIP, .137 BAA, 17 SV in 28.2 IP over 28 games with the Padres in 2016. Over 14 MLB seasons with the Padres, Cubs, Mariners, Rays, Angels and Tigers he is 37-56, 3.58 ERA, 718 K, 1.34 WHIP, .230 BAA, 253 SV in 729.0 IP over 728 games. He originally signed with the Tigers in 1997 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Rodney turned 39 on March 18.

RHP Paddack was 2-0, 0.95 ERA, 48 K, 0.39 WHIP, .098 BAA in 28.1 IP over 6 games at Class A Greensboro in 2016.  He was originally drafted by the Marlins in the eighth round in 2015. Paddack turned 20 on January 8th.
